Job prospects for highly skilled heating, air conditioning and refrigeration Technicians and/or Installers are expected to be excellent according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook 2008-2009 particularly for those with technical heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) training.

Our Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Technology program (HVAC/R) includes training in:

  • Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Technologies
  • Solar Technology & Installation

Our Programs can help you become job-ready with practical ,“hands-on”, skills in electrical and mechanical technology, refrigeration techniques, and diagnostic know-how and troubleshooting employers seek. You can also learn about solar energy technology and processes to design, install, and maintain residential and commercial systems or start your own business.

The Refrigeration School, Inc (RSI) is HVAC/R accredited School.

The Refrigeration School (RSI) in Phoenix AZ is accredited by The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and complies with all local, State, and federal regulations. RSI is licensed to operate by the Arizona State Board for Private Post Secondary Education and is a Member of the Arizona Private School Association, the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the Air Conditioning Contractors of Arizona (ACCA), and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).

Programs Available at The Refrigeration School:

AOS Mechanical Maintenance Engineering

The objective of this course is to provide training and education in adequate depth and breadth to allow graduates access to diverse and demanding career positions. Students are required to complete each phase with a proven degree of competence. Upon completion of the program and acquiring an Associate of Occupational Studies Degree in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering, students should have the necessary skills to fulfill this objective.



Electro-Mechanical Technologies

The objective of this course is to train and prepare students for entry level positions as New Construction and Maintenance Electricians in the Electrical Industry. A student is required to complete each phase of training with a proven degree of competency. Upon successful completion of the course, the student should have an understanding of electrical principles, the National Electric Code (NEC), and how these apply to common buildings and facilities which are the necessary skills to enter these fields. It is understood that to become an expert in any field requires dedication, hard work, continued schooling and most certainly possessing the proper attitudes, drive and motivation.

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heating Technologies

The objective of the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heating Technologies Course is to train and prepare students for entry level positions as service and maintenance technicians in the fields of air conditioning (both heating and cooling), and refrigeration. A student is required to complete each phase of training with a proven degree of competency and, upon successful completion of the course, the student should have the necessary skills to enter these fields. It is understood that to become an expert in any field requires dedication, hard work, and continued schooling, and most certainly having or acquiring the proper attitude, drive and motivation.

The Refrigeration School, Inc. was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 1965 to meet the growing need for high quality education and training of air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. RSI was started by family members, with backgrounds in refrigeration and air conditioning, who had a great deal of insight and inspiration and the knowledge necessary to train new technicians to the required skill level. Over the years RSI has grown and developed an excellent reputation for providing the student with the best possible service and has become one of the leading providers of HVAC/R technicians in the country.

The RSI campus which is easily accessible from all parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area, includes two buildings with 21,000 square feet of classroom, lab, and support service facilities. An additional 5,400 square feet of outdoor shop area brings the total to over 26,000 square feet of training facilities.
